The Art of Lighting

Home is where you find your comfort, your zen, and if you do it right – your best lighting. Lighting is key to establishing a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. One of the elements of a well-designed yacht interior is the use of artistic lighting, highlighting key features and creating a sense of luxury and sophistication.

The right lamp or sconce or backlit piece will transform the look and feel of a room, and this season sculptural, statement lighting pieces are on-trend. Take a look at some PKD projects for example:

Lighting is showcased, surrounded by art in this Mediterranean inspired yacht that gives some major “White Lotus” vibes.

In contrast the modern inset lighting in the overheads of ALTA set the mood day or night, but disappear seamlessly when turned off.

Or the lighting itself can be the piece of art like the backlit carved onyx walls in this art deco inspired project.

There are unlimited options for how to use lighting in a design for maximum effect, and everything from the material to the saturation and hue of the light to the placement of the fixture is ultimately important.
