You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.” – John Lennon

Sleeping on a yacht immediately conjures up the most luxurious, soundest sleep imaginable, as you’re rocked to sleep by the swaying of the sea, but there is a lot that needs to be considered before master and guests can drift off the lala land.

Yacht owners and their guests are highly discerning, sophisticated, and well-traveled, so they are used to five-star service on yachts, in hotels and in homes around the world, but there are constraints and variables to take into consideration on a yacht: storage, laundry and/or dry-cleaning availability and of course, Mother Nature.

Never on land has the size of your laundry room so impacted the linens you choose for your bed, but it is of the utmost importance when designing for a superyacht.

Along with the need to wash and dry clean the bedding, the owner of a yacht may choose to change over the decor and design of the cabin and specifically of the bedding several times throughout the year making storage equally important. Linens will be needed for each season, a variety of color schemes and to meet the preferences of different guests.

When we are creating bespoke or custom bedding, the process of the design begins along with the concept for the yacht to incorporate the owner’s bespoke logo or monogram, a crest, a unique pattern or a fully custom piece.

When styling the bed it is the perfect time to showcase an owner’s personality and a place for a designer to show-off a bit too! Fitted sheet, top sheet (put on with the wrong side up for the perfect fold-down), a summer blanket, and a gorgeous duvet are necessity – but only the beginning!
